Yaqumo Inc. and Entropica Labs Sign MOU, Witnessed by Singapore and Japan Governments, to Accelerate Fault-Tolerant Quantum Computing

Insider Brief Yaqumo Inc. and Entropica Labs Pte. Ltd. signed an MOU to collaborate on integrating cold-atom quantum hardware with advanced quantum software, supported by policy-level cooperation between Japan and Singapore. The non-binding agreement establishes a framework for joint research and technical exchange focused on hardware–software co-design, including hardware-aware transpilation, circuit optimization, and fault-tolerant quantum error correction for cold-atom systems. The MOU was signed in Singapore in the presence of government representatives from both countries, aligning with a broader bilateral Memorandum of Cooperation on quantum science, technology, and innovation. PRESS RELEASE — Yaqumo Inc. (“Yaqumo”), a Japanese quantum computing company pioneering the country’s first integrated cold-atom quantum computer for real-world applications, today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) with Entropica Labs Pte. Ltd. (“Entropica Labs”), a Singapore-based company internationally recognized for its expertise in quantum software, quantum error correction, and circuit optimization.  Under the MOU, the two companies have agreed to establish a framework for international collaborative research and development aimed at building a world-leading quantum computing hardware–software ecosystem through close Singapore–Japan cooperation.   The MOU was signed in Singapore witnessed by representatives from the Government of Singapore and the Cabinet Office of Japan, marking a significant milestone in bilateral cooperation on next-generation quantum technologies. The signing took place alongside the signing of a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) on quantum science, technology, and innovation between Josephine Teo, Minister for Digital Development and Information of Singapore, and Onoda Kimi, Minister of State for Science and Technology Policy of Japan, reflecting strong policy-level support for cross-border collaboration in advanced science and technology. Integrating Cold-Atom Quantum Hardware and Advanced Quantum Software  As fault-tolerant quantum computing (“FTQC”) becomes a central global challenge, close integration between quantum hardware architectures and quantum software — including transpilation, optimization, and error correction technologies — is increasingly critical.  Yaqumo is developing a scalable cold-atom-based quantum computing architecture, while Entropica Labs brings deep expertise in fault-tolerant quantum error correction software architectures and quantum circuit optimization. Through this collaboration, the two companies aim to explore the co-design of hardware-aware transpilation and optimization technologies tailored specifically to cold-atom quantum computers.  Framework for Collaboration  Under the non-legally binding framework of the MOU, Yaqumo and Entropica Labs intend to explore collaborative research and technical exchange related to fault-tolerant quantum computing.  By bringing together their respective expertise in quantum hardware and software, the two companies aim to deepen mutual understanding, investigate potential areas of cooperation, and identify opportunities for future collaboration.  International Cooperation Context  This MOU is undertaken within a policy environment that encourages international cooperation between Japan and Singapore in advanced technologies, including quantum computing, and reflects the growing importance placed on cross-border collaboration in research and innovation.  Looking Ahead  By combining complementary strengths in quantum hardware and software, Yaqumo and Entropica Labs seek to contribute to the global advancement of fault-tolerant quantum computing and to strengthen Singapore–Japan cooperation in next-generation deep-tech innovation.
